Dreams Are Hard Work

At 15

It is so easy to daydream about your

Wildest dreams,

But what do you do when at 18

You have to work until your spine

Cracks into three pieces

And your feet throb until they

Match with your pulse?

How do they come true?

How can I turn my fairy tale dream

Of ripping my heart from my sleeve

And stamping it onto notebook paper,

A love letter from me,

Into a non-fiction chapter?

Will it ever happen?

I cried as I wrote this, worried about my words

getting published into a newspaper or

My own book,

Worried if I put the right hanger

On the right pair of pants,

Worried if I counted to six and stopped there,

I worried if I was good enough

But I looked up at my planet of control

I took a glance at the sky and saw that astral body

Look down at me, and tell me

You are better than you believe,

You can make this dream a reality

You can control and eventually achieve this fantasy

My tears stopped streaming,

My warmth returned to my skin,

I stepped in the bath, and

Reached for the stars

No one cares until they are real.
